Fibre Mood – Stella Top

About 90 mins to make, entirely on overlocker. Did not use dedicated ribbing, but the fabric I used for collar and cuffs was a little thinner and stretchier than the body of the fabric. The yellow top is one I’m using as a kind of PPE next time I need Hi Vis.

Peppermint Mag – Wide Strap Maxi Dress

I made this for myself in the long version, but then my daughter decided she wanted to make one just above the knees, which ended up looking like a cute Japanese style dress. About two hours to make as no fastenings, but an interesting pocket detail. My fabric is an African wax print, which worked…

Dog Clothes

As crappy as 2020 was, we got a new family member – Melton the Whippet. Whippets need clothes, but they are silly shaped, so here has begun the next five – ten years of trying to make clothes that fit him. I’m getting there – Getting closer to what I’ve figured hes going to wear.

Fibre Mood Lola Top

This is the first thing I’ve made this year that I haven’t liked, and unfortunately I made it from decent fabric thinking “it’s a top, what could go wrong”. The overall style of the top I like, but the flounce is a little too much – my daughter called me Pennywise upon seeing the top,…

Closet Core Patterns Pietra Pants

I did my usual bum / thigh adjustment, and the general fit is pretty good. But it does need future adjustments – the side seam sits too far back at the top.  Not noticeable in the shorts, but I used contrast panels in the trousers so it can be seen.  I think for the next…

McCall’s M7637

For my brother’s birthday, he requested a bomber jacket, and this is what I came up with. First time doing this style of pocket, and I’ll happily use it again in the future – it looks neat but I had to unpick it once as it needs an element of precision I didn’t appreciate…

Closest Core Patterns – Pouf

I had been saving up my scraps for a couple of months and was happy to finally get a place to put them.   I had misjudged how big these poufs are, and they ate every scrap I had and were hungry for more.  I’m not complaining though – I love the size of them and…

Simply Sewing Palazzo Pants

Now I have made a pair it makes me wonder why I waited so long. I didn’t trace the full trouser leg, just measured for my leg length. Made a big bum adjustment and they fit perfectly. Once toile completed they took about 2 hours to make.

New Look 6035

I shortened the sleeves by 5 to fit my arms, but when my daughter tried it on it was about 6cm too short for her! Luckily she always wears things rolled up at the sleeve anyway

Cotton and Chalk Jenna Jumpsuit

Slightly confused by the 3-4cm gap in between the sizes.  Ended up grading from XS at the shoulders to just below medium at the waist.  Unusually I took away 2cm from the waist length (mostly I add that amount on, but the waist was way off where I was expecting it to be).  Added 5cm…

Simplicity 2588 Project Runway

I hate photos with my hands on my hips.  I don’t know why I did it. This is the slim skirt version of the narrow neck band.  I tried with the wide neck band and turning it inside out looked horrible, so I won’t be trying that again in the near future.  The aim of…

True Bias – Ogden Cami

Pattern beautifully supplied by Simona at Sewing Adventures in the Attick, already traced and in my size.  She has been praising this pattern for ages, and I thought it was about time that I finally made it. When I tried it on with a different bra it looked better at the back (I did take…
